    Pluriel des noms composés


     

     

     

    1. Seuls le nom et l'adjectif peuvent se mettre au pluriel si le sens le permet: des oiseaux-mouches, des rouges-gorges (deux noms) des appuis-tête (deux noms, mais une tête), des abat-jour (un verbe et un nom; il n'y a qu'un jour).

     

     

    2. Lorsque le nom composé est formé de deux noms unis par une pré­position, en général seul le premier nom s'accorde: des pieds-de-biche.

     

     

    3. Lorsque la préposition est sous-entendue : le second nom ne s'accor­de pas:

    des timbres-poste, des wagons-poste (c'est-à-dire « pour la poste »).

     

     

    4. Quand le mot garde désigne une personne' accord: des gardes-malades, des garde-manger.
