At the doctor's - useful vocabulary - French lesson

1. ESSENTIAL VOCABULARY / VOCABULAIRE ESSENTIEL :
People / Les personnes :

- le docteur =  the doctor
- le patient = the patient
- l'infirmier / l'infirmière=  the nurse
- le pharmacien = the pharmacist

Symptoms / Les symptômes :

- un rhume = a cold
- de la fièvre = fever
- un mal de tête = headache
- un mal de gorge = sore throat
- de la toux = cough
- mal au ventre = stomach ache
- fatigué(e) = tired
- des douleurs = body aches / pain

Treatments / Les traitements :

- un médicament = medicine
- une ordonnance = prescription
- un sirop = syrup
- des comprimés = pills / tablets
- du repos = rest

2. USEFUL PHRASES / PHRASES UTILES :
Talking about your health / Parler de sa santé :
- Je ne me sens pas bien. → I don't feel well.

- Je suis malade. → I am sick.

- J'ai mal à la tête. → I have a headache.

- J'ai de la fièvre. → I have a fever.

- Je tousse. → I am coughing.

- Je suis fatigué(e). → I'm tired.

At the doctor's / Chez le docteur :
- Bonjour, docteur. → Hello, doctor.

- Depuis quand êtes-vous malade ? → Since when are you sick?

- Ouvrez la bouche. → Open your mouth.

- Respirez. → Breathe.

- Ce n'est pas grave. → It's not serious.

- Je vais vous prescrire un médicament. → I'm going to prescribe medicine.

- Restez à la maison et reposez-vous. → Stay at home and rest.

3. BEGINNER DIALOGUE (with English translations) :
👤: Bonjour, docteur. Je suis malade.
👨‍⚕️: Hello, doctor. I'm sick.

👨‍⚕️: Quels sont vos symptômes ?
👤: What are your symptoms?

👤: J'ai de la fièvre et mal à la gorge.
👨‍⚕️: I have a fever and a sore throat.

👨‍⚕️: Vous toussez ?
👤: Are you coughing?

👤: Oui, un peu.
👨‍⚕️: Yes, a little.

👨‍⚕️: Ce n'est pas grave. Prenez ce sirop et reposez-vous.
👤: It's not serious. Take this syrup and rest.

4. INTERMEDIATE DIALOGUE (with English translations) :
👤: Bonjour. Je viens sans rendez-vous. Je suis très fatigué et j'ai mal au ventre.
👨‍⚕️: Hello. I don't have an appointment. I'm very tired and I have a stomach ache.

👨‍⚕️: D'accord. Depuis quand ?
👤: Okay. Since when?

👤: Depuis deux jours. J'ai aussi de la fièvre.
👨‍⚕️: For two days. I also have a fever.

👨‍⚕️: Avez-vous mangé quelque chose de bizarre ?
👤: Did you eat something strange?

👤: Je ne pense pas.
👨‍⚕️: I don't think so.

👨‍⚕️: Je vais vous donner une ordonnance. Prenez ces comprimés, reposez-vous et buvez beaucoup d'eau.
👤: I'll give you a prescription. Take these pills, rest, and drink lots of water.
