Conjugaison au 3e groupe-tous les temps

    1st group:

These are all verbs ending in -ER (except aller, which is irregular).

Example: chanter (to sing), aimer (to love), marcher (to walk), danser (to dance).

Regular conjugation in the present tense:

    Je chante → I sing

    Tu chantes → You sing

    Il chante → He sings

    Nous chantons → We sing

Vous chantez → You (pl.) sing

    Ils chantent → They sing

    2nd group:

These are verbs ending in -IR that use the -issons ending in the present tense for the first person plural (nous).

Example: finir (to finish), grandir (to grow), choisir (to choose), réussir (to succeed).

Regular conjugation in the present tense:

    Je finis → I finish

    Tu finis → You finish

    Il finit → He finishes

    Nous finissons → We finish

Vous finissez → You (pl.) finish

    Ils finissent → They finish

    3rd group:

All other verbs, which are irregular:

-IR verbs that do not use "-issons" (e.g., partir (to leave), dormir (to sleep), courir (to run)).

-OIR verbs (e.g., voir (to see), recevoir (to receive), vouloir (to want)).

-RE verbs (e.g., prendre (to take), mettre (to put), vendre (to sell)).

And the two auxiliary verbs: être (to be) and avoir (to have).

Examples: aller (to go), faire (to do/make), lire (to read), peindre (to paint), prendre (to take), être (to be), avoir (to have).

All the verbs in the exercise belong to the 3rd group because they are either irregular, end in -OIR or -RE, or are auxiliary verbs.
