verbal phrases and -ing or not -ing
    Message de guillaume07 posté le 07-05-2007 à 18:38:20 (S | E | F | I)

    Hello,

I was wondering whether or not in the case of a verb following a verbal phrase, we must write this second verb using -ing form:

    example :

    I look for + v-ing
    or
    I look for + to v

I know the rule which said that when a verb follow a preposition, we must write it with the -ing suffix, but in the above case, we must apply this rule or not?

    thanks

    Hello,

Here's a link to a good explanation in clear English.
    Lien Internet

    You may find it's interesting.
Besides, I doubt you can ever find a V-ing form or even an infinitive following the phrasal verb look for.
Please note I am no grammarian.
    Hope it helps anyway.
