    Hello everybody,

I would like to know which is the right form between the two following sentences:
    1. I am not to blame, it's not my fault
    2. I am not to be blamed it's not my fault

    Any additional explanations are welcome

    See soon

    Bonjour,

Je n'ai pas un explication mais la phrase "I am not to blame" est meilleure que "I am not to be blamed". Tous les deux peut être utilisé mais la première est la forme la plus commune et ne dépends pas sur la contexte contrairement à la dernière phrase. "I am not to be blamed" serai mieux écrit comme "I should not be blamed".

    Hello,

    1. I am not to blame. It's not my fault.
In this case, YOU (the subject) is doing the blaming. It doesn't work with "it's not my fault".
However, if you say for example "I am not one to blame" means that you would not blame anyone.

    2. I am not [the one] to be blamed. It's not my fault.
    "the one" is optional
    You could also say:
2a. Do not blame me. It is not my fault
or Don't blame me. It's not my fault.

Therefore, #2 is better based upon the context.

    Hope this helps!

Thank you all for your answers.

I want to give further explanation on the context. I have seen the first sentence as such and I was confused a bit cause I thought it shoud be written in the second form.

    Thank you again
