    Since or for- correction
    Message de lizzies posté le 02-05-2009 à 16:47:59 (S | E | F)

hello , I'm learning the present perfect with since and for.
Can you tell me if my sentences are correct?

1 I've lived in Toulouse since I was 2 years old.
2 I've been in Egypt for a week.
3 I've been learning English for two months.
    4 I've know Juanito since 2005.
    5 I've had dinner since 12.30.

    thanks for your help^^

Some people use: breakfast, lunch, dinner
Some people use: breakfast, dinner, supper

Personally, I use "lunch" and "dinner" when eating out, but "dinner" and "supper" at home. (So I suppose I could have "dinner" twice in one day!)

Also, you can't really say "I've had dinner since 12:30." This sense of "have" requires the continuous form. You could, however, say "I've had dinner every day this year" since this talks about something habitually done.
